The Way of Wheat Grass

The Way of Wheat Grass

and the way to better health. Taoism (the Way)  is an ancient Chinese ‘way of life’, and is an important part of mine as VerdeGrass is.

This is the first of a series of 3 Verde-Blogs that will examine the use of VerdeGass – Wheat Grass Juice, while living on that path, the Way.
Let us start with a nutrition.
VerdeGrass Brand Whest Grass Juice, is rich in Vitamins A, C and E, phosphorus, calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium, etc.  It also contains 19 amino acids and essential enzymes.  Chlorophyll also helps reverse aging with the enzyme SOD (super oxide dismutase), suppresses hunger, cleanses the blood, reduces body odor and allows the blood to carry more oxygen plus raises a woman‘s hematocrit.
We know that soil gives us nutrition through the foods we eat.  Therefore it becomes obvious that nutrient rich soil then produces good nutritious food, and chlorophyll helps us fight off unwanted flora and fauna, externally and internally.  It has been known for thousands of years that chlorophyll is a natural anti-biotic.
Wheat, a cereal grain, has been changed by mainstream agriculture and has now become an addictive substance that acts like an opiate in the brain. Still the plant is able to take nutrition out of the soil and into the food product……thus good soil makes good food…..poor soil does not.  Wheat is capable of taking all the natural occurring elements into the plant, but only if it is within that soil!  Therefore we at Hawkhaven Greenhouse have created a trace mineral and elemental rich soil through composting since 1974.  Only natural soil additives have made the soil as rich and black as it is.  Thus making VerdeGrass Brand Wheat Grass Juice one of the healthiest organic foods for health and nutrition.  It can bring you health in many forms, from top to bottom, inside and out from increased energy levels to over-all beauty.  (A new customer (my auto mechanic) was gray looking and sallow, within 1 week of 2 servings/day…this man sparkles.  His face is bright, actions more grounded, no longer gray and sallow looking, but bright and cheery!  Off the steroids.)
So how do we introduce VerdeGrass Brand Wheat Grass Juice our Diets.
Grow it your self (not recommended), buy powders (also not a good idea, it is dead), get a shot at a juice bar, or order fresh – frozen juice from hawkhaven.com.  It is easy to start.  Begin with a half serving (hockey puck size) as your early morning pick me up on an empty stomach.  Doing this for a few days allows the body to slowly acclimate to this strong drink……Rich in WHAT?  Chlorophyll and nutrition!
After those few days a full serving will be fine for those folks who are healthy, but those folks with ailments will need more.  Some folks drink 2/day others 4/day…..your body will tell you how you are adapting.
The point is it takes time to get sick and it takes time to heal and/or maintain health…..there is no magic bullet or pill.
So what can VerdeGrass do for you?  It can….
Treat Skin Ailments:  Since chlorophyll is anti-biotic and healing, direct application of juice to skin ailments can help in healing.  I had chigger bites years ago at my ankles…..itched like mad…..I made a poultice blend of VerdeGrass, aloe vera and comfrey from the garden into a paste…..in 3 days the spreading acid and itching from those bites were gone.  Also good for poison ivy….eczema and psoriasis.
Lose Weight:  Who doesn’t want that?  Again it takes time and of course exercise…..be in balance.
Reduce Food Cravings:  How does it do that?  By giving your body what it needs in natural nutrition, from the grower, the composter…..Hawkhaven Greenhouse!  As the juice satisfies, food cravings are lowered and we go on with our days.
Detoxify Your Cells: Begin eating an alkaline diet. Wheat Grass Juice does taste sweet….it balances the body away from the acids of the regular American diet of sodas, burgers and fries. VerdeGrass is the bodies sweetener.
Improve Immunity:  WGJ builds the blood by helping create red blood cells…..how?  Chemically the Chlorophyll molecule is very similar to the Hemoglobin molecule……the center of these molecules are Iron and Magnesium…..so what happens during digestion is that the Chlorophyll molecule breaks down releasing the Magnesium to roam.  As WGJ is rich in Iron and it is then sucked into that spot as the center of what is left of Chlorophyll and creates Hemoglobin.
More oxygen is able to be carried by the blood stream.  More oxygen, more energy, cells detoxify, a woman’s Hematocrit goes up……give your immune system that jolt of health when a cold or flu comes on.
Stimulate Circulation:  The more oxygen in the blood, circulation is stimulated.  Here is an anecdote that I would like to pass along……Many years ago a Nurse at a Detroit hospital called me to say that they had a patient with an extremely low hemoglobin/red blood cell count in the patients blood.  She wanted me to know that they gave the patient my WGJ and within hours…..the hematocrit was rising and the patient might not die…….
To me this shows the life giving aspects of WGJ-VerdeGrass….this my friends was in the early 90’s…..nurse unk, hospital unk……results known.

End of Part 1.……….Think GREEN and Drink GREEN……

Carton Return Policy

Shipping is expensive and so are the shipping cartons. We have asked our customers and used first, Parcel Post which then changed to Standard Mail or Standard Post! Now all has changed again, not that service has gotten better but that now to return cartons…..it must go: USPS Retail Ground

We must remember the USPS is a large corporation, not a government agency!

Their focus is making MORE $$$. Dig this…..I have sent juice to my brother, 100mi away and it costs $16 with Fedex, would be $13 with UPS……with the USPS, Priority Mail and 1st Class…..a 3 lb package is $23………….what? I could drive there and back for half that in gas?

Now with the new USPS Retail Ground…..I do not know the costs…..a person must go to them and then you will know the cost!

As I have said before, their focus is $$$ and that means via what they say “We can get it there in 2 day’s” rhetoric from them…..I do not care how long it takes, just that the shipping carton is returned and at the least expensive way as possible! There is no good reason to throw out an expensive carton when it can be used again…..and we will refund the mailing cost to our customers.

We are all lost in what to do…..and it seems USPS Retail Ground will be the most cost effective.

We are at their mercy and that stinks! Capt. Tim

We have Organic Squash Seed – For Sale !

Calabacita (Tatume):  This summer squash if a Mexican Zucchini. Rather than being long, it is roundish.  But the magic of the squash is that it is sweeter and creamier.  When picked no larger than a softball, you eat them raw. When older, they are good for soups.

Multi-colored Acorn:  These squash are just the same sweet fall squash as their all green cousins. Nice and sweet when baked.

SOD and YOU

SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE MAGIC

Superoxide dismutase or SOD is an enzyme found in all living cells. An enzyme is a substance that speeds up certain chemical reactions in the body.

How does it work?

Superoxide dismutase is an enzyme that helps break down potentially harmful oxygen molecules in cells. An anti-oxidant, which might prevent damage to tissues. It is being researched to see if it can help conditions where oxygen molecules are believed to play a role in disease.

Superoxide dismutase is also said to slow up the aging process and reverse signs of aging in the skin.

Found within the cell’s mitochondria, another SOD enzyme is manganese dependent (MnSOD). . Foods that are an excellent source of manganese include mustard greens, chard, spinach, romaine lettuce, pineapple, raspberries, strawberries, oats, brown rice and green beans…..and that relates to Wheat Grass Juice.

Melons, including honey dew, casaba and cantaloupe, contain the SOD enzyme. Wheat, corn and soy sprouts also have high concentrations of SOD.

So it becomes clear that a healthy diet of good greens, certain melons and sprouts will aid the body with SOD. An intake of natural sources of anti-oxidents becomes necessary and smart.

How has it worked within me?

I am a man of 70yrs. and look like I am 50y/o in the eyes of many folks…..why would that be? I have been eating well since 1974 after buying this farm and began compost gardening. No more wheat as grown today…..no more ‘Wheat Belly’…lol, but rather many of the foods listed above and of course…

Wheat Grass Juice since 1980.…yup 1980!   VerdeGrass

I am not covered with ‘liver spots’, nor all wrinkled up like so many folks I know. I am active and vital….though honestly I do feel aging coming on.

I repeat: “it becomes clear that a healthy diet of good greens, certain melons and sprouts will aid the body with SOD.

So I drink my VerdeGrass daily…..will you?

Other insights: SOIL the INS and the OUTS

It seems that some folks are thinking that we are composting our pets…..NO we are not!

Feral Cats, are wild killers of birds and other small animals…..they are not Pets.
Here at Hawkhaven we have a Pet Cemetery…..my first 2 dogs, another dog from a good friend, my mothers and brothers personal cats and 2 of mine. These animals are not cremated but were interred in the soil beneath a very big White Pine. Therefore they are feeding the tree and have their place of reverence.
Ferals cats are like feral dogs that run in packs, in that they are wild animals that should not be there in the first place but many folks when they no longer want the pet anymore, put it in the woods…out of sight is out of mind and the predator cat destroys the bird population…….
Do you know that the farmer’s cows and pigs die too? Well of course they do…..so what happens on the farm?
I watched on PBS a program on large animal disposal by composting…..it is a long process taking a year but the whole animal…..becomes soil that is then spread over the fields in a natural organic manner.
We Hawkhaven Greenhouse use those feral cats, marauding raccoons and squirrels, trapped mice, the same way over winter……they are soil by spring. Our compost is from this land, naturally…..leaves, house scraps and those animals…..becomes soil.
So my friends, I ask that we see that nature is helping us become healthier…..by growing on compost our Wheat Grass for you……we do NOT compost our pets…..12/13/16 Capt. Tim

How about a great recipe?

Calabacita Soup – “Cita Soup”

Calabacita or Tatume is a Mexican form of zucchini. Rather than the long tubes that over grow so easily, these are round, about the size of a softball or smaller is best for eating fresh. They are sweeter and creamier than the tubes.

I have used fresh cut pieces of small ones as part of sushi or just into a dip.

Here we go!

Take 2 large overgrows, cut in half vertically, scoop out the seeds and fiber. Do not throw out!

Cut the halves into 1” slices and remove the peeling with a knife. The peeling is hard, it is an overgrow, compost the peels of course.

Cut the arcs into 1” pieces and put into the blender with 2 cups water per overgrow.

At the same time take the seeds and fiber, place into a frying pan with 1 chopped large Vidalia onion and sauté until browned, then add to the blended pieces and blend real well, so that the seeds are all chopped up small. They have super nutrition. Add more water if needed…..

Put into a large pot and bring to a rolling simmer.  This soup is thick and creamy…..it will splatter, be careful….lower heat accordingly.

Add salt and pepper to taste. A dash or 3 of Basil leaf and Garlic powder.

Add 1/2 of a whole Nutmeg, fresh ground and ½ pint of heavy cream and/or coconut milk.

Upon serving, sprinkle fresh chopped parsley on top as a garnish.

Makes about 3qts.

Smooth, creamy, awesome natural sweet taste, super nutrition……Enjoy my friends…..Capt. Tim

I can provide seeds….$2.50/dozen including mailing…..call me at 920.540.3536
